I don't know if I should laugh or cry when I see that Saddam Hussein was being hung this morning. On one hand he should be punished for what he has done to the kurds in northern Iraq - but is death really a solution? I honestly don't think so. The so called 'coalition' is preaching non-violence and tolerance in the middle east, but this is the outcome of democracy, human rights?
In a few days it's 2007, not 1007, and we're still hanging people, killing people due to their killings. I can't see this as anything else than a behavior which leads back to a time hundreds or thousands of years ago, where men went hunting for food and their wifes waited in the kitchen. Haven't we surpassed this period?
When do people realize, that it doesn't help that prisoners, no matter how guilty they might be, are being sentenced to death due to their crimes? Have this theory ever been verified? ;)
The guy, Saddam, was obviously far away from being a normal person - however still a person. Killing other human beings will, from my perspective, only lead to riots, violence and more killings.
